Deep, rich black earth. Rain-fed skies. Potato fields thriving under regenerative farming.
6 - Back to natureThe bag breaks down. Compost feeds the soil. Plants do a little happy dance.
Poo. Scraps. Sorted.
Strong, reliable poo bags and bin liners are born — ready for everyday messes.
Those waste potatoes are transformed into plant-based starch and pellets. Still no plastic. Still no waste.
The best become food. The rest? Too wonky, too many, or simply surplus — saved from going to waste.

Yes. Kompost bags are independently certified compostable by TÜV Austria, one of the world’s most respected certification bodies for compostable materials. This certification verifies that the bags will break down into natural elements under composting conditions without leaving harmful residues.
Our bags have also passed the AS 5810 Home Composting Standard, which is widely recognised as one of the most rigorous tests for home compostability. This means the material is designed to break down in a typical home compost environment.
Absolutely. They’re built to handle peelings, leftovers, tea bags and the occasional “what even is that?” without falling apart.
Just remember, try to replace your Kitchen liners every 3-4 days, Kerbside liners will last for 7 days.
Our kitchen liners fit most standard 7-10L kitchen food-waste caddies supplied by UK councils.
Our kerbside liners are built for the 25L kerbside bins, these larger caddies are supplied by most UK councils to collect the smaller bags from your kitchen.
We also have a small kitchen caddy liner to fit 5L kitchen caddies available.
Most sensible UK councils accept and many recommend compostable liners for food waste collection schemes. But to be sure, check your local guidance.
Yes, they’re designed for home composting. Just remember to follow good composting practice for food waste.
A waste potato is simply a potato that cannot be sold. This might be because it is too small, damaged during harvest, misshapen, or fails the cosmetic standards required by supermarkets.
Across the food system, a significant proportion of potatoes never reach consumers. Studies estimate that around 8-10% of potatoes are wasted in Europe.
In Europe alone, farmers harvest over 48 million tonnes of potatoes each year, meaning millions of tonnes are rejected before they ever reach markets.
At Kompost, we believe this valuable resource should not go to food waste creating harmful greenhouse gases like methane.
Through Komposts own farming operations, we grow around 100 million potato plants each year, and typically over 6,000 tonnes of potatoes are not suitable for the market. Instead of discarding them, we transform this material into thermoplastic starch, which is then used to make our compostable bags.
By doing this, we turn agricultural waste into a useful product, helping create a circular system where waste from farming becomes part of the solution to waste management. Now that's a cool idea!
